Maryknoll Batch 86 Supports Southeast Asian Institute for the Deaf Scholars

Last February 22, a trio of bloggers were invited to a little get-together at Miriam College to witness the launching of an advocacy organized by Maryknoll College Batch 86 in cooperation with the Southeast Asian Institute for the Deaf

The aim is to help "doubly marginalized individuals", meaning disabled kids who cannot afford to go to school.

Let's see who the beneficiaries are...

Some of the students at Miriam-SAID doing a dance routine.

What was cool about the performance was the fact that they're deaf (remember?). They couldn't hear the music, but danced with passion nonetheless. Quite impressive!

Feel the intense passion!

Mark Gaspar, a 3rd year B.S. Psychology scholar, delivers a speech of gratitude.

It's the principal!

The lovely ladies of batch 86.

After the announcements, Assistant Principal Ms. Jing Cadiz graciously offered to give us a quick tour of the campus.

Green abundance!

I guess this is where the flag ceremonies take place.

Classroom rules... clearly illustrated.

Hey, where are the students?

Miriam College is the first school in the Philippines to embrace deaf students from pre-school all the way to college.

Maryknoll College Batch 86 Will Host an 80’s Party for the benefit of SAID scholars.
